Our Tranformative Story

Building a cadre of SRH Peer Educators

Our Sexual Reproductive Health Program serves as venue for youth to acquire knowledge in regards to sexuality. In August 2016, with financial support from Uganda Youth Network (UYONET), TUA Uganda carried out training of 20 enthusiastic young volunteers as peer educators in sexual reproductive health issues in Nwoya District. Below is what a trained peer educator has to say;

“The knowledge I had before wasn’t accurate enough, but from the knowledge I have acquired from the training conducted by TUA Uganda, I can say that I can communicate and share SRH information with young people,” say Opio Tonny, one of the course participants.
Okema Williams, TUA Uganda Executive Director, observed that the participants showed keen interest and handled the practical aspects of the training confidently.
We encouraged them to reach as many young people as possible, some have done fantastic work in regards to youth outreach. I am more than impressed and contented that the continuous outreach to young people by the SRH peer educators would be amazing," say TUA Uganda Programme Manager.
